Recently, some citizens have asked about the status of upcoming pavement improvements on Rogers Street, including the section in front of City Hall.
The failure of the pavement in Rogers Street adjacent to City Hall was precipitated by a water main failure. This water main is very old and probably dates from near the turn of the last century. The water main itself needs to be replaced prior to the installation of new pavement. The project to replace the water main as well as the pavement is currently being designed. City leaders are anticipating that this project will be ready for bidding by the end of this month.
This project will include repairs to Rogers Street from Franklin Street southward to the railroad tracks, Jefferson Street from Rogers to Jackson and S. College in front of the feed store. The repairs will include pavement and utility repairs.
Once work begins, the project is expected to last 120 days. For questions regarding this or other street improvements, please call 469-309-4300.
